Frequently Asked Questions

  • No green thumb necessary! In fact, though we rely heavily on volunteers during the growing season, there is A LOT more to do all year-round! We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and skill levels. Some roles will require training or a background check, but most opportunities just require a willingness to help.

  • That’s up to you! We have both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities. Some roles, like transportation, work best with a regular commitment, while others, like gardening or event support, are more flexible. We’ll work with you to find something that fits your schedule.

  • While the families we work with are learning English, communication is possible with a little creativity and patience. We rely on Google Translate, simple phrases, gestures, and smiles to bridge the language gap. Much is understood through patience and kindness.

  • The best way to start is by reaching out! Fill out our volunteer interest form, and we’ll be in touch to talk about your interests and get you involved.

Your can help ensure refugees—forced to flee their homes because of violence and persecution—will have the support needed to build a beautiful life.
